Week of Jul 9-15 + Champs Form

Piranha Parents,

We're past the halfway point in the season!  5 weeks and 7 meets completed, 3 weeks and 5 meets to go.  We have 3 Wins-4 Losses so far - and several meets have been very close.  Unless sick, or on vacation, please make every effort to bring your Piranha to each meet.

Tuesday, July 10, we're welcoming the Grandview Neptunes to the Prosser Aquatic Center.  Thursday, July 12, we travel to Naches to face the Barracudas!  Please login to Swimtopia to indicate whether or not your swimmer will be participating in each of these meets, and to sign up for volunteer jobs.

Note: While Naches is experiencing a heatwave, with an expected high of 96 F on Thursday, their pool is in the shadow of the mountains, and the winds can be chilly as they come down. This causes it to cool off quickly once the sun goes down behind the mountains.  Remember warm clothes, blankets, towels, etc. for both you and your swimmer - layers are recommended!

AAU Invitationals are this Saturday, July 14 & Sunday, July 15.    If your swimmer is registered for this weekend's invitationals in Toppenish, watch for a separate email on Tuesday with more details and information.  Shara will have the job signups open tomorrow for parents of participating Piranhas.

MVSL Championships are July 27, 28, 29, also in Toppenish!  The theme is: "Dive & Jive at the Topp Hop."  Be thinking of '50s songs to suggest for our team entrance.  Detailed information will be sent at a later point, but meanwhile, our form to register each of your swimmers is attached.  One form per family!  Swimmer registration fee has increased to $8/swimmer and individual events are still $3 each, as decided by the MVSL.  The Piranhas pay for relays, and we form as many relay teams as possible, so please let us know if your swimmer is available for relay teams!

For Champs, IM is always Friday night.  This year, Saturday will be Free Relay, Breaststroke & Freestyle.  Sunday will be Medley Relay, Butterfly, Backstroke.  Regular events are 50 M, IM and Relays are 200 M, just like a regular meet.  To be eligible to compete at Champs, your Piranha must have competed in 6 regular meets, not including invitationals.
